Simple Outdoor Projects to Add Curb Appeal

·

Warm weather means it’s a great time to get outside and spend time upgrading your outside space. Upgrading outside walkways, yard space, and greenery is a great way to add an inviting touch to your home, elevating your curb appeal, while also making your outdoor space more appealing to be in. In the early to mid Spring months, it’s common to  see the nursery section at Home Depot packed as people are beginning to do this in preparation for the warmer months of the year. So what are some things you can do to elevate your outdoor space before summer? Here are some of my top picks.

Clean clean clean. They call it spring cleaning for a reason. This is a great time to collect debris from over the winter, trash, and clutter you no longer need/use. You would be surprised how much getting rid of a few things will really change a space, especially if it was cluttered to begin with. This is also a great time to power wash and spray for bugs and rodents (keeping in mind respiratory protection to yourself and pets). With cleaning and grooming comes the obvious, landscaping and mowing the lawn. You definitely want to keep a well maintained lawn to add to your curb appeal.

Next is a personal favorite of mine, gardening. It’s relatively inexpensive (unless you go crazy) and can add a massive sense of calm, peace, and oneness with nature and life around us if done correctly. There is of course the aesthetic component as well. Depending on what matters more to you (aesthetics or function) you could plant flowers, daffodils, all sorts of shrubs and beautiful greenery, or you could plant fruits and vegetables to savor later on. What’s your pleasure?

Last but not least, I would say upgrade outdoor furniture. Again, you don’t have to necessarily go crazy here, Walmart has relatively inexpensive outdoor patio sets, or you could always find something decent on facebook marketplace. The goal is to remove old and outdated stuff and bring the things that are in style.

There is a lot that you can do outside, and where I live in the northeast, we only get a handful of warm weather months, so get out there and enjoy it one way or another! Outdoor home improvement projects are a great excuse to get outside. Thanks for reading!
